I recently experienced a frustrating situation at my job as a service engineer/technician. During the interview process, I was promised a role that involved performing inspections and services across Europe, with additional pay for time spent away from home. However, after four months in the position, I've only been on one assignment as an assistant and have spent the majority of my time stuck in the office handling emails and other administrative tasks. This was not what I signed up for, and it feels like I've been baited and switched. The technicians who were hired alongside me are out in the field regularly, while I’m left behind doing work that doesn’t align with my skills or the job description I was given. I did voice my concerns in my onboarding feedback during my third month, but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any change. Now, I'm at a crossroads and wondering what my next steps should be. It seems clear that I need to start looking for a new job, as staying here might only lead to further frustration.
