I'm currently facing a tough situation at my job as a server/bartender at a restaurant where I've been employed for nearly three years. Throughout my time here, I've experienced a high turnover rate with 18 different managers, which has made stability hard to come by. Despite my dedication, often working 45 hours a week and consistently achieving some of the highest sales, my current manager has expressed doubts about my performance. This has been incredibly disheartening, especially since I've received positive feedback from all previous managers. Recently, I've been plagued by vivid nightmares about work, where I find myself overwhelmed and unable to handle the pressure. This past weekend, I faced one of the busiest shifts I've ever had, and it felt like a nightmare come to life. I struggled to keep up, and when the big boss showed up, I felt like my fate was sealed. I was informed that I would have a sit-down meeting soon, and the outlook for my job is grim—either a demotion or suspension is on the table. I'm feeling lost and depressed, especially since I don't have a degree or a backup plan. The thought of potentially losing my job is terrifying, and I can't shake the feeling that I don't deserve this after all the hard work I've put in. I'm trying to navigate this uncertainty, but it's weighing heavily on me.
