  1. 1

I graduated from college in December 2023 and have been struggling to find a stable job that pays at least $60K. Living in a high cost-of-living area in the U.S. and wanting to stay close to my family makes this even more challenging. So far, I've only managed to secure internships and contract positions, and one company even laid me off right after I finally received benefits after a long series of internships. It's disheartening to see discussions about home affordability when I'm not even close to signing a lease for a $1,500 apartment. This situation has made me feel timid about dating and embarrassed in front of my friends who are more established in their careers. I can't help but feel that no one would want to start a family with someone in my position.
