I was laid off yesterday at 8 am during a meeting with my manager and HR. I had a feeling this was coming when I received the meeting request on Friday. It's been a tough time as I've watched other capex managers get let go month after month, and I guess it was just my turn. Today, I handed in my laptop and badge, cleared out my office, and took some time to process everything. I felt overwhelmed and even got sick. I spent the day calling my creditors to inform them about my layoff and applying for unemployment benefits. It's disheartening to see the budget shrink from $3.5M to $2.3M and then down to $1.1M, which made it clear that I was just an expendable cog in the machine. I'm trying to stay positive and keep moving forward, just like everyone else in this situation.
