I recently received a job offer that initially seemed appealing, but then I got a surprise 10% raise at my current job just a day before the offer came in. This made the new offer feel less attractive, especially since it requires a longer commute and I would lose two remote work days each week. I'm really bored at my current job and craving new opportunities, but I'm torn about whether to counter the offer for more money. I know it's not the new company's fault that I got a raise, but I suspect they offered me the lowest end of their salary range. I'm considering reaching out to negotiate, as I've heard that it's worth asking for a better deal.
