    Feeling Planning Thinking

    I have been on the job hunt for a while now, despite having 10 years of experience in compliance. Since 2018, I've been working remotely and have built a solid background in various sectors including crypto, cannabis, fintech, and banking. However, I find myself stuck in lead or senior analyst roles and I'm eager to move beyond that. I'm looking for a stable position where I can thrive without being micromanaged. I excel in fast-paced environments and have extensive experience in fraud investigations, trust and safety, OSINT, CSAM investigations, and data analysis. My goal is to find a role that reignites my passion and allows me to feel fulfilled in my work.

    I recently made a regrettable decision by leaving a contract role in the AML/BSA field, where I had been working remotely for seven years, to take a full-time position. I thought long and hard about this change, but on my first day, I learned that the last two people in the role had left within a month. The work environment is incredibly toxic, and I find myself dreading every day except Monday. My manager keeps me in all-day training sessions, while also arguing with their partner and sharing very personal details about their life, which makes the situation even more uncomfortable. I attempted to return to my previous contract role but was informed that I couldn't due to my notice period. Having been laid off from October to this past August, I think my desperation for stability led me to this poor choice. The job market for AML/BSA roles is tough right now, and I'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm applying to at least ten jobs per hour, hoping to find a remote position that is stable, non-toxic, and allows me to work without being micromanaged. If anyone knows of any openings in AML/BSA, risk, or compliance, please reach out. I could really use some good vibes right now.

    I'm currently on Day 2 of my new permanent role, and I'm feeling quite frustrated. I recently transitioned from a contract position where I was a top performer, but due to some unclear timelines from the agency, I started looking for something more stable. I accepted a permanent position at a new company, only to discover that it feels like a bait-and-switch. The role is much more entry-level than I was led to believe, and I've overheard HR making jokes about me, which is disheartening. To add to the complexity, the company I just joined has a conflict of interest with my previous contract client, which forced me to leave that role on very short notice. Now, my old client has offered to take me back, but with a catch: I would have to commit to not seeking other employment for six months. I'm worried about the implications of leaving a job after just two days and how I would explain this on my resume and in interviews. I’m seeking advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation. Should I go back to my old contract client, or is that agreement too restrictive? Is it realistic to leave a job after such a short time, and how can I navigate this without burning bridges? Any insights would be greatly appreciated as I try to make the best decision moving forward.

    I was laid off in September 2025 and have been unemployed for 12 months now, which has been really tough on me. Despite having a good number of interviews and making it to final rounds, I haven't been able to land a role. I've received feedback that I'm a perfect cultural fit, yet I keep getting passed over a week later. I've been told to follow up more, try to make the interviewers laugh, or be more engaging, but I'm just exhausted by the politics of it all. I just want a job. I have 10 years of experience as a compliance professional, specializing in AML/BSA, fraud, and risk management. My background includes work in cryptocurrency, fintech, wealth management, and banking. I've polished my resume and even my recruiters have said that my interviews went well with no negative feedback. I'm left wondering what I might be doing wrong.
