I'm facing a tough situation as I'm getting laid off from my role as a Junior System Analyst. I graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems and worked hard to gain experience during college, including internships at an AI startup and involvement in cybersecurity clubs. After graduating, I spent months applying to jobs and obtaining certifications, tracking over 500 applications and landing around 20 interviews. Eventually, I got hired as a Junior Sys Analyst, but the excitement was short-lived. The project I was assigned to was awarded to another company, and my contract was cut from January 2028 to January 2027. I hoped to gain valuable experience, but due to delays, I wasn't cleared for meaningful work until February this year. In May, I learned that the transition to the new company would happen sooner than expected, and I might be let go in June or July. Now, I've received confirmation that my last day will be in early July, and with a hiring freeze in place, my chances of being hired by the new company are slim. I'm devastated after working so hard to secure a job in my field, and the thought of starting over again is overwhelming. I'm reaching out to see if others have navigated similar situations and what lessons they've learned. I'm just trying to find some hope amidst this disappointment.
