I recently received a job offer for a new role in a different industry, and I'm excited to start once I wrap things up at my current job. However, I haven't officially handed in my notice yet. I mentioned the offer to my manager, who can be quite challenging to deal with, and suddenly I felt like I was being guilt-tripped into staying. They suggested various ways to keep me, like reducing my hours, accommodating my needs, and even matching my new salary. The truth is, the company feels like it's in a downward spiral. The workload has become overwhelming, communication between teams is almost nonexistent, and there have been numerous restructures and layoffs. It's been incredibly stressful, which is why I'm eager to leave for this new opportunity. Has anyone else experienced this kind of guilt trip when trying to leave a job? I thought resigning would be straightforward, but it's proving to be more difficult than I anticipated.
