I recently had my first-round interview with New York Life for a position related to finance. As a third-year student, I felt the interview went fairly well overall. However, I have some concerns about one question regarding a financial model I was asked about. I answered it, but in hindsight, I realize I didn't fully explain the model or my process, which makes me worry that it might impact my chances of moving forward. On a positive note, the rest of the interview felt natural, and I was able to connect with the interviewer over our family backgrounds and basketball. At the end of the conversation, he encouraged me to email him and connect on LinkedIn, which I did. I sent a thank-you email afterward, and he replied, saying I should hear back within 1–2 weeks. I'm curious if my less-than-perfect answer to that question will significantly hurt my chances, or if I'm just overthinking it.
