I've been working as an HR Coordinator for the past two years at a small company with about 200 employees. As the only HR professional here, I've been managing everything from onboarding and offboarding to employee relations and health and safety. My boss, who is not from an HR background, is somewhat supportive, but there's no real focus on improving HR processes or the overall work culture, which I find quite toxic. Despite the stability and a salary of $77K with health benefits, I often feel exhausted and unfulfilled due to the lack of growth and the stagnant environment. Recently, I interviewed for an HR Generalist position at a well-established company that has a team of about five HR professionals. Initially, they offered me a full-time role at $75K plus profit sharing and great health benefits. However, after some changes in their team structure, the offer has now shifted to a 12-month contract at the same salary of $75K, with no profit sharing or health benefits, but with the possibility of a full-time position afterward based on my performance. I'm torn between accepting this contract role, which offers a chance to work in a team and potentially grow, or staying in my current position where I feel stuck. I'm seeking advice on whether I should take the contract role or keep looking for other opportunities that might be a better fit.
