Milestones, reflections, and progress updates connected as your layoff-to-next-step story unfolds.

  1. 1

I was laid off in May, and it's been a whirlwind of emotions since then. It's now two months later, and while I'm dealing with the usual panic of job searching and keeping an eye on my savings, there's a part of me that feels guilty admitting this: I don't miss my old job at all. I spent three years there, but since losing it, the strongest feeling I've had is relief. That realization scares me more than the financial uncertainty. It makes me think that going back to a similar role would just be stepping back into a situation I was already done with. I don't have a new passion or direction waiting for me either; I just know that the old path wasn't right for me. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced a layoff that unexpectedly pushed them to change their career direction. How did you figure out what to do next without having a paycheck to give you time to think?
