Today, I experienced a layoff at Sallie Mae due to a company-wide reduction in force (RIF). The process felt impersonal as they opted for large group meetings instead of notifying employees individually. During the meeting, HR simply read a 90-second script, and all interactive functions like camera, chat, and microphone were disabled. It was a quick and cold way to deliver the news, leaving many of us feeling unsettled.
