Today, I’m feeling really overwhelmed about my future in IT. I’m a 21-year-old male studying computer engineering in Eastern Europe, currently in my third year. So far, I’ve only completed one mandatory internship through my college, and I’m gearing up for another one this year. Despite applying to numerous positions, I haven’t landed any opportunities yet, and it’s starting to take a toll on my confidence. I’m particularly anxious about the impact of AI on job prospects in the tech industry. It feels like just as I’m about to step into adulthood, the landscape is shifting in ways that make me question my career path. My passion for programming is dwindling because I’ve realized I’m not doing much coding in my studies. Understanding programming concepts is one thing, but I feel like I need more hands-on experience to truly thrive. I’m even contemplating a shift from software to hardware, possibly pursuing a role as a technician, despite lacking any practical experience. It’s a daunting thought, and I’m seeking advice on how to navigate this situation. I feel like everything is crumbling around me, and I’m not sure how to regain my footing.
