Navigating Job Applications: Considering Placeholder Addresses for Out-of-State Roles

I've been actively job searching for over four months now, focusing primarily on out-of-state positions as I'm looking to relocate. I've made sure my resume is optimized for ATS and tailored to each job description, and I know I'm qualified for the roles I'm applying for. However, I recently discovered that some ATS systems might filter out candidates who are out-of-state or lack a specific zipcode, which was really frustrating to learn. This has led me to consider using a placeholder address on my applications, like '123 Main Street' in the city where the job is located. My plan would be to explain it as a privacy measure if it ever came up in an interview, but I’m concerned about the potential consequences during a background check. I'm seeking advice on whether this is a good strategy or if I should avoid it altogether.
