  1. 1

I was laid off last week after eight years at my company, which has been going through layoffs to cut costs by replacing full-time workers with cheaper alternatives. It was a tough moment for me since I genuinely loved my job and the people I worked with. However, I'm trying to look on the bright side; at least I can access unemployment benefits now. Fortunately, I'm not in a rush to find a new job right away. My wife earns enough to cover our bills, so she's encouraging me to take some time off and decompress. This is a bit strange for me since I haven't been unemployed for fourteen years, and I'm learning how to relax without the constant pressure of work. I've read a lot about the current job market and know it won't be easy to find something new, so I'm not expecting to jump into a new role immediately. I just wanted to share my thoughts and vent a little about this transition.
