Today was a tough day for me at my corporate job. I logged in this morning, excited to start the day, only to find out in a team meeting that my team lead, who I had grown really close to over the past few months, had been laid off. He was the one person I felt I could turn to for support, especially with my autism and ADHD. He understood my struggles and worked with me in a way that made sense for my brain. I was devastated to hear that he was gone. I had been feeling more secure in my role since joining the corporate side about 10 months ago, but now that sense of stability feels shattered. I can't help but feel overwhelmed with sadness and fear about the future. I worried about how I would manage my emotions in upcoming meetings, especially since I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. I know it's not uncommon to feel upset when a coworker leaves, but I can't shake the feeling that others might judge me for being so affected by this. I spent most of the day crying and reflecting on how much he meant to me as a mentor and a friend. It's hard to process this loss, and I feel like I'm mourning the support and understanding he provided. I just hope that I can find a way to cope and move forward, even though change is particularly challenging for me.
