I graduated with an accounting degree in 2019 but never used it, and I've been working in retail for the past 5 years. I went through some personal challenges that kept me from pursuing a career in my field. Now, I'm feeling unsure about my chances of breaking into accounting since so much time has passed. I really want to get my foot in the door, but I worry that it's too late for me. I've been considering entry-level positions like accounts payable or bookkeeping, as I've heard those can be good starting points. I know my retail experience has given me skills in dealing with numbers and customers, but I'm still feeling lost. Any advice on how to approach this transition would be greatly appreciated.
