I recently had my first interview for a sales position at a major furniture store in my area, and I'm preparing for the second interview later today. The job offers paid training at $22.50 an hour for two weeks, along with benefits like PTO, sick days, and health insurance. They typically have 40-45 hour work weeks, which sounds appealing. I noticed that the store was busy, unlike another furniture store I visited that was completely empty. The interviewer explained the commission structure, mentioning a draw system, and that most sales revolve around mattresses. I'm feeling nervous about the commission-only aspect since it could lead to financial instability if I don't make sales. While I understand that the company does a lot of advertising, I'm worried about the risk involved. Some comments I've read suggest that commission jobs can be tricky, and I should consider my financial situation before making a decision. I'm contemplating whether to accept this offer or continue searching for more stable opportunities.

I'm feeling really frustrated with my job search right now. I've been applying to nearly every retail chain in my area, but I keep getting ghosted or rejected. I have 6-7 years of experience in this field, and I've even worked at some of these places before, so it's disheartening to see it being harder to land a job now compared to when I was a teenager with no experience. I reached out to HR at one store after a month of waiting since my recorded interview. The HR representative assured me that they were still hiring and would remind the hiring manager to check my application. However, today I received a rejection email, and when I checked online, the position is still open. I reapplied immediately, but I just don't understand what they are looking for. I'm more than qualified for the role, having done it for years. I'm considering calling HR again to ask why they continue to post the job but aren’t hiring anyone. I feel like I'm stuck in a loop, and I can't help but wonder if there's something I'm missing or if it's just a matter of luck. It's really disheartening, and I wish I could get some clarity.

I've been feeling really discouraged lately in my job search. After working in retail since 2019, I was recently let go from my overnight position at Walmart due to a hospitalization that kept me away for a few weeks. Unfortunately, I couldn't inform my store in time, and I lost my job as a result. Now, I'm in a new job, but the hours are incredibly sparse—I'm only getting scheduled for 1 or 2 days a month, which is hardly enough to make ends meet. I've been applying everywhere I can think of: Dollar Tree, Target, Sam's Club, Walmart, Petsmart, Petco, Walgreens, Home Depot, CVS, Family Dollar, gas stations, and fast food places like McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Taco Bell. Despite having 6-7 years of retail experience, I'm either getting ghosted or receiving rejection emails. It feels so frustrating because back before COVID, I could apply with little experience and often land an interview within a week. Now, it seems like with my experience, I'm lucky to even get a response. I called one store to check on my application, and the manager told me he was sorting through 60 applications for the position I applied for. It’s hard to believe that many people are vying for a job that pays only $12-15 an hour. It really makes me question my chances of getting hired anywhere.
