I was recently laid off from my IT position at a large retail corporation known for its frequent layoffs. As a woman over 60, this experience has been particularly challenging. I've been in the industry for many years and have weathered other layoffs before, so I was somewhat prepared when I noticed signs that layoffs were imminent. However, when it finally happened, it was still a shock. I understand that the decision was financial and not a reflection of my skills or performance, but I can't help but feel discarded. I've started applying for other jobs proactively, but I still struggle with the emotional aftermath of being let go. I often find myself grappling with feelings of worthlessness, despite knowing it was just a business decision. I'm reaching out for advice on how to move past these feelings and regain my confidence.
