I recently interviewed for a position at a hedge fund after being referred by someone in my network. The hiring manager reached out to me directly via email and text to schedule the interview, which ended up being surprisingly short—only about 10 minutes. During the interview, she asked me to introduce myself and then immediately inquired if I had any questions. What caught me off guard was the direction of the conversation. She asked when I could start, where I’d be moving, and if there was anything I should prepare for beforehand. She mentioned that I would learn everything on the job and concluded by saying there was 'clearly a fit' between us. She assured me that HR would send a take-home assignment soon, which she claimed was just a formality, followed by one more round with HR to finalize everything. That was two weeks ago, and I haven’t heard anything since. I followed up with her but didn’t get a response. I also reached out to the main HR contact and learned that they were on leave. I then contacted another HR representative who was CC'd in the original email, and she informed me that there were no updates yet but that they would reach out this week. Still waiting and starting to feel anxious about the whole situation.
