Today, I received notice that my mid-sized software company is going to be acquired. This is my first experience with an acquisition, and I can't help but feel anxious about the changes ahead. We were reassured that there will be no layoffs and that our roles will remain the same, but I find it hard to fully trust that promise. The uncertainty is weighing on me, and I'm looking for advice on how to cope with this situation. I've heard from others that the 'no layoffs' statement is often standard during acquisitions, which makes me even more uneasy. I'm considering updating my resume, not because I think I'll definitely need it, but to alleviate some of this anxiety. It's tough to shake the feeling that roles might be cut for financial reasons, regardless of performance or experience.

Today, I learned that my company is going through an acquisition in the coming weeks. We were informed that a deal is in the works, but nothing is finalized yet, and we don't know which publicly traded company will be acquiring us. While they assured us that every employee will be retained, I can't shake the feeling that layoffs are inevitable. This is my first experience with an acquisition, and I’m feeling quite anxious about what the future holds. I'm currently updating my résumé and trying to prepare for any potential outcomes. I’ve been advised to back up my contacts and work samples, which I’m planning to do. I’m also reaching out to expand my network, as I know it’s important to have connections in place. I’m curious about how long it typically takes for layoffs to occur after an acquisition and how to manage my anxiety during this uncertain time. Staying positive while being realistic is proving to be quite a challenge.
