As an engineering student nearing graduation, I've recently started my job search in a market that feels quite challenging. Up until now, I've relied on career fairs and recommendations from professors to secure internships, but this is my first experience applying for jobs independently. I've sent out 30 applications over the past few weeks and have been fortunate enough to land 10 interviews. While I recognize that this is a solid interview-to-application ratio compared to some of my peers, I can't help but wonder about the other 20 applications. Did those companies review my resume and decide I wasn't qualified? I'm trying to adjust my mindset from the academic world, where hard work typically leads to good grades, to the job market, which seems to operate on a different set of rules.
