I've been on the job hunt for entry-level HR positions since March, applying for roles like HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, and Talent Acquisition. Despite holding a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resources Management and having several years of administrative experience, I'm feeling pretty defeated. It's disheartening to see companies fill the exact roles I applied for, especially when the candidates they hire often don't seem to have an HR degree or much relevant experience according to their LinkedIn profiles. I often don't even get a phone screen or interview, which leaves me questioning what I'm doing wrong. I'm reaching out to HR recruiters and hiring managers to understand why someone with my qualifications might be overlooked for these entry-level roles. Is it my résumé? A lack of direct HR experience? Networking issues? Or maybe I'm not using the right ATS keywords? I'm genuinely seeking feedback because I'm determined to break into HR. If anyone has advice or is recruiting for entry-level HR or administrative roles in the Greater Toronto Area, I would greatly appreciate your insights.
