  1. 1

I recently experienced rolling layoffs at my company, where I was let go from my role as a mid-level manager. It's baffling to see how some companies operate this way, laying off employees only to rehire them back in the same positions a few months later. From what I gather, it seems to be a strategy to manage quarterly financial reports and possibly cut costs by hiring cheaper labor. I’ve noticed that even high performers are not immune to these layoffs, which makes it feel random and unpredictable. It leaves me questioning how to stay motivated when it feels like my contributions might not be valued. I’ve heard theories that management often doesn’t have a clear understanding of what roles are truly necessary, leading to these erratic decisions. It’s frustrating to think that the company might just be trying to manipulate their financials or test the market for cheaper talent. I’m also curious about how to identify if I might be next on the chopping block. It seems like a guessing game, and the lack of transparency only adds to the anxiety. Overall, this experience has left me feeling uncertain about my future and the stability of my career.
