I recently started receiving unemployment benefits after being unexpectedly let go from my job in Massachusetts. It's been about two weeks since I started getting these benefits, and I was surprised at how quickly they came through. However, I received a strange request for fact-finding from the unemployment office regarding my recent job loss. They asked for details about my previous employer, which I thought was odd since they hadn't asked for that information initially. Then, to my confusion, I got another request asking about a job I held five years ago! I've had three jobs since then, so I'm not sure why they need to dig that deep into my work history. I gave a two weeks' notice at my last job and worked until my last day, so I don't see why any of this would be relevant. As of now, I've received five checks, and the fact-finding requests came after my second and fifth checks, but I haven't been cut off from payments yet. I'm planning to call them on Monday to get some clarity, but I'm feeling a bit anxious about the whole situation. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
