I recently got fired from my job after a heated argument with my boss. I was late to work by 15 minutes on a day when we had a VIP client visiting. My boss, who is quite overweight, confronted me about my tardiness and called it disrespectful. In a moment of frustration, I lost my temper and called him a 'fatass' in response to his criticism. He was understandably furious and fired me on the spot. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to explain this situation in future job interviews. I know I need to take responsibility for my actions, but I'm worried about how to frame this incident without making it seem like I'm just making excuses. Any advice on how to handle this would be appreciated.

I recently put in 2.5 weeks' notice at my job after 17 years with the organization. On my last day, my boss planned a farewell lunch, but I was so fed up with the toxic environment that I couldn't bear the thought of sitting at a noisy restaurant surrounded by fake smiles and insincere goodbyes. Instead, I decided to leave quietly. I texted my boss that morning to let him know I wouldn't be coming in because I wasn't feeling well. I haven't missed the place at all; it feels liberating to know I won't have to interact with those unpleasant people again. Leaving on my own terms was empowering.
