However, when I requested a few days off for school, they immediately started looking for my replacement. Manager 1 claimed they weren’t against education but hinted that it detracted from the performance expected at the hotel. Manager 2, the general manager, gave me a vague response about whether they could accommodate my request, but the next day, I noticed they had already posted my position on Indeed and were actively searching for someone new. It really frustrates me how employers often don’t give any warning before laying you off and expect you to find a new job in such a challenging market.
