I recently started a new job after leaving my previous position as a manager at a retail company. My last job was great in terms of my coworkers and the work itself, but the management changes made it tough. I was closing every night until 11 PM and never had weekends off, which took a toll on me. I decided to leave when I realized I might end up with all the responsibilities since several other managers had also left. Now, I’m shadowing at my new job, and it’s been overwhelming. The workload is intense, and my coworkers have a negative outlook on the environment. The first thing someone told me was that I went from one stressful situation to an even more stressful one. Many of my new colleagues, even those who have only been there for a few months, are already talking about leaving. I’m torn about whether to stay or leave. The only perks are that I get off at 4:30 PM and have weekends free, plus I’m making $2 more per hour than before. I’m considering sticking it out until my three-month period is up, but I’m also thinking about trying to get my old job back or looking for something else. At 22, my expenses are minimal, just my car and a few bills, so I have some flexibility.
