I recently had an experience with a hiring agency that has left me feeling anxious and uncertain about my job prospects. A couple of months ago, they reached out to me about a role at a well-known company that aligns perfectly with my career goals. After giving them permission to represent me, I didn’t hear much until last month when they called to say the company was interested in interviewing me. I agreed to the interview, and to my surprise, it went really well. A week later, the agency informed me that I was selected for the position, and I was over the moon! I provided them with a start date and completed a background check, drug screening, and other necessary documentation all in the same week. However, as the start date approaches, I realized that I never actually received an official offer letter. This has raised a lot of red flags for me. I’m starting to question whether this is standard practice for hiring agencies or if I might have been scammed. In my previous experiences, I always received an offer letter before being asked to complete any pre-employment checks. While I have been in contact with my future manager and other team members, and the agency’s website looks legitimate, I can’t shake the feeling of unease, especially since I haven’t found any reviews or testimonials about them online. I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has had similar experiences or can offer any insight into this situation. I’m feeling a mix of hope and fear, and I would appreciate any thoughts, whether positive or negative.
