I recently accepted a job offer from a large defense company and I have about 2.5 weeks before I officially start. The salary was higher than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. However, I just found out about another position within the same company that aligns perfectly with my skills and interests, especially since I have a background as a pilot and have transitioned into tech. This new role is also remote, which would greatly improve my quality of life due to my leg injury from my time in the military. I'm contemplating whether it would be appropriate to reach out to the recruiter who helped me with my current job offer to inquire about this new opening. I’m concerned that asking about this might come off as ungrateful for the offer I already accepted. I really want to avoid burning any bridges, especially since this is a large company and I want to maintain a good relationship with them. Is it common for recruiters to handle such requests?
