    Applied to a Job Feeling Planning Thinking

    I recently found myself in a frustrating situation at my current job. I applied for a stocking position just to make some money before I leave to join my country's Air Force in December. However, during the hiring process, the employer suggested I take a deli/bakery role instead, which I explicitly mentioned I was not interested in. I accepted the offer because they claimed it was the only position available, but now I'm regretting that decision. The work environment is incredibly toxic, with a high turnover rate and no supervisor to guide us. The training is chaotic, and I feel like I'm just trying to survive each day. To make matters worse, I discovered they reposted the stocking job I initially applied for, which makes me feel like I was pushed into a role they couldn't fill with someone more experienced. I've started applying for other jobs because I know I can't stay in this unhealthy environment. I'm contemplating how to resign when the time comes, especially since I don’t think I owe them a two-week notice given my newbie status and lack of desire for a reference. I just want to escape this place and find something better.

    Feeling Planning Thinking

    I recently had a job interview for an entry-level position and it seems like I might be getting a second chance with a potential employer. My previous job had a lot of management turnover, and I initially asked one of my old managers for a reference. They agreed enthusiastically, but unfortunately, when the potential employer tried to reach out, my ex-manager didn't respond despite multiple attempts. This left me feeling anxious about my chances. I decided to ask a more reliable manager for a reference instead, but I worry that I may have scared off the potential employer in the process. However, I noticed that the employer has contacted me twice to follow up on the reference, which gives me a glimmer of hope. I’m trying to understand if this is a good sign—after all, if they weren't interested in me, why would they go through the trouble of reaching out? During the interview, they mentioned that multiple people had left the role and discussed two positions that I would be perfect for, which makes me think I made a good impression. I’m just trying to manage my expectations and would appreciate any advice on whether this follow-up is a positive indicator.
