I work at a dealership in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area, specifically in Mountain View. Recently, my wife suffered a serious knee injury, which requires surgery next Monday. She's been struggling with a dislocated kneecap, a chipped kneecap, a chipped femur, and a torn ligament in her inner thigh. We also have a four-month-old daughter to care for. I reached out to my boss to request 1-2 weeks off to help my wife during her recovery, especially since we live about 30 minutes away from my job in Dalton. Despite explaining the situation and having a doctor's note, my employer only offered me Monday and possibly Tuesday off. They made it clear that if I don't show up on Wednesday, it would be considered my resignation, and they'd hire someone else. I feel stuck because I don't have any sick time left, and I've applied to numerous jobs in case I need to find something new. I'm really at a loss for what to do next.
