I recently went through a lengthy interview process for a multi-unit role with a retailer that I was really excited about. Last Tuesday, I toured several stores with the hiring manager, and at the end of the day, he verbally offered me the job. However, he didn't have a written offer ready at that moment and mentioned I would receive it within a day or two. We also agreed on a start date, which means I need the written offer by today at the latest to give my current employer notice. I followed up with the hiring manager on Thursday, and he said he hoped to have the paperwork ready by Friday, assuring me that I would hear from him as soon as it was available. While I understand that delays can happen, I’ve never waited this long for a written offer—it's now approaching 45 days since I first interviewed. I find it odd that he made a verbal offer without having the written document prepared. I’m starting to feel anxious, especially since the agreed start date is looming. I'm considering taking action today to figure out what's going on. I appreciate any advice on whether I should be concerned or if I'm just being impatient.
