I recently started my job search and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I've heard stories of people applying to hundreds of jobs, like 500 to 1000, and I'm trying to figure out how they do it. My background is in education, but I see a lot of postings in healthcare and tech around my area. I've been attempting to rework my resume to fit these roles, but I can't change my degree or certifications. I understand that some people might apply for entry-level positions in places like restaurants or retail, but 500+ applications seem excessive. I'm curious if people really have a broad skill set that applies to many jobs, or if they just exaggerate their application numbers. I've been using platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed, but I'm wondering if there are better tools or strategies to find more job postings.
