I left my previous job about a month ago, but I've been receiving paychecks from them as if I were still employed. I took a new position that started in late September because the job I really wanted pushed their start date to October 1st, and I needed to cover my rent. The first two weeks at the new job were just sales training, so I didn’t feel like I was wasting anyone’s time by leaving. I put in my two weeks' notice two days before October 1st. Management told me to just finish out the day normally to avoid disrupting the training class, and at the end of the day, I returned my badge, laptop, and headset. They confirmed I would be paid for the full two weeks of training, and that would be my last day. I received my paycheck at the end of September, but it was prorated since I started my new job mid-pay cycle. However, a couple of days before October 15th, I received another paycheck from my old company as if I had worked the entire 15 days of October. I didn’t receive any communication about this, and my access to their systems was revoked, so I assumed everything was finalized. Today, I noticed I got paid again for the full amount. I haven’t spent the money; I moved it to savings just in case they ask for it back. I’m hesitant to notify anyone because I’m worried they’ll come after me for repayment. I haven't received any emails or letters regarding this. I’m unsure of what to do next.
