I’ve been on the hunt for basic remote jobs, particularly in transcription or data entry, to supplement my income while I work with a crisis line and study. So far, I’ve tried applying to three different transcription companies, but it seems like the exams to get in are either closed or the jobs are being taken over by AI, making them nearly impossible to secure. I’m feeling a bit lost on where to turn next. From what I’ve gathered, fully remote positions are highly sought after and often outsourced overseas, which makes it even tougher for someone like me looking for entry-level work. I’ve read that transcription and data entry roles are among the first to be impacted by automation, and it seems like I might be chasing a unicorn here. I’ve been advised that there are still remote opportunities in customer service, IT, and computer science, but they require specific skills that I currently don’t possess. It’s disheartening to see how AI and automation have shifted the job market, and I’m left wondering if these entry-level jobs will ever come back or if I need to pivot to something else entirely.
