I recently had my performance review, and while it was glowing, I left feeling completely demotivated. My manager praised my ability to handle all my responsibilities alone, which is true, but it also highlighted the fact that I’m drowning in work. Everyone in the company, including higher-ups, knows that I need more support, yet my direct manager has confirmed that I won’t be getting any help. To make matters worse, I was told that a promotion to a managerial position is unlikely since they’ve never had a manager in my role. I've been with the company for 5 years and genuinely love my colleagues, but I'm feeling overwhelmed and unsupported. I rarely take time off, and I can sense my performance slipping, despite the positive feedback from others. I’ve started looking for a new job, but I know positions like mine don’t open up often. I’m curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation, waiting for the right opportunity while trying to maintain motivation and appearances.
