  1. 1

I’m feeling really scared and overwhelmed right now. I’m a 27-year-old male, and I’m currently stuck in a job that I absolutely hate. The job market seems to be in a rough spot, and I’m struggling to cope with my situation. I had been working towards a degree, but I had to drop out because I found it too difficult to support myself while studying. Now, I’m trying to return to school, but my current job is making it so hard. I work in blue-collar, route-based work, three days a week, which sounds good in theory because I get four days off. However, those three days are brutal, often stretching to 14 hours with no breaks, working in extreme heat. The routes are packed, leaving me little to no time to eat or take care of basic needs, and I get written up if I don’t finish my work before dark. I desperately want to leave this job, but I feel trapped. I’ve been applying for new positions, but I’m not making much progress. I see others posting about their numerous applications, and I’m struggling just to submit one because the process can take so long. My mental health has taken a hit, and I feel like I have to use all my energy just to find a job that will barely help me get by. I’m just venting here, but I know I need to keep applying and tailoring my resume, which I’ve been doing. I just feel lost and defeated, reflecting on how hard I worked as a kid for things that now feel irrelevant. How is everyone else holding up? I could really use a hug right now.
