I recently received an email update regarding a job I applied for at a tech company. They provided more details than most companies typically do, which I initially appreciated. However, the information felt overwhelming and somewhat disheartening. They mentioned that there were 802 candidates for the position, and only 4 were shortlisted. Receiving this update made me feel like my efforts were in vain, as it highlighted the extreme competitiveness of the job market. I can't help but feel that sharing such specifics was unnecessary and only served to amplify my disappointment. Am I wrong to think that this level of transparency might actually be counterproductive?
