I recently faced a tough interview after being laid off from my job of nearly 14 years. Despite having a good sense of humor and getting along well with people, I struggle with nerves in new situations, which makes interviews particularly challenging for me. During the interview for a position I really wanted, I felt like I went mute and even stuttered a bit when I thought I had messed up. I know I didn't do anything inappropriate, but I could tell it wasn't my best performance, and that added to my stress, especially with the job market being so competitive. I've realized that I tend to overprepare, which sometimes leaves my brain feeling muddled. I'm looking for tips on how to stay calm and focused when anxiety creeps in and how to project confidence when it feels scarce.
