  1. 1

I am 24 years old and recently completed my M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IITH, following my B.Tech in Production Engineering from a government college. My CGPA is 8.02 for my M.Tech and 7.82 for my B.Tech, which I know isn't the best. Unfortunately, I remained unplaced at IITH, along with 23 others from my M.Tech program, despite the misleading average placement stats. I started my off-campus job search in January 2026, right after the first phase of placements. Over the past eight months, I've applied to multiple companies and finally received interview calls from five major firms. However, I faced rejection from two of them after the final round, where I felt I didn't perform well. The other two companies had bizarre reasons for not moving forward with me. One claimed I was overqualified for the position, which I found ridiculous since they had shortlisted me based on my CV that clearly stated my qualifications. I don't understand how they could think I was overqualified for a role that required an M.Tech. In another instance, I was approached by Mantrucks for a design engineer position without even applying. They asked about my expected salary, and I mentioned 8 LPA, but they offered 6.5 LPA, which I accepted. They wanted me to join immediately, but I requested four extra days to resign from my current role as a Project Assistant and to help my mother after her surgery. They agreed but then completely ghosted me. It's frustrating to see such unprofessional behavior from companies that are supposed to guide freshers.
