I recently quit a shift lead position at a restaurant after just one day. I had a gut feeling of regret right after accepting the offer, especially since I was hired within minutes of the interview, which is never a good sign. My training was lackluster; I was trained by a crew member who was actually below my position, which felt completely inappropriate. There were several red flags that I noticed during my brief time there. I have a year and a half of experience at another job and left on good terms, so I have references for my next opportunity. Since I'm only 18 and still living with my parents, I didn't feel pressured to stay in a job that felt wrong. I also took screenshots of my timesheets because I suspect they might try to withhold my pay for the $100 I earned. This experience has reinforced the importance of prioritizing my well-being and making choices that are right for me. I hope others can take this as a reminder to do the same.
