I'm planning a move from Minneapolis to Washington state, specifically Seattle or nearby areas, in 2027. My fiancé and I are getting married in late November, and we're weighing the pros and cons of making the move next year versus waiting 2 to 5 years. Currently, I'm 32 and stuck in a stagnant retail sales job at a small company with only 25 employees. I've been there for about 10 years on and off, earning $23 an hour with no commission, raises, or bonuses for years. The health plan is terrible, and I only get a capped total of 15 PTO/sick days. There's no room for professional growth since all the leads go to senior employees. My fiancé, who is 33, has been at his job for 3 years but is also capped on bonuses and faces challenges from a supervisor who seems to work against him. He has over 5 years of manufacturing experience and has been trying to break into Delta Air Lines but hasn't had any luck. We've heard positive things about Boeing in Washington, which has piqued our interest. For those who have made the leap to Washington, do you think moving next year is realistic, or should we hold off for a few more years? We have decent savings, but we’re hesitant to rely on them without job offers in hand. Any advice on the job market or transitioning to that area would be greatly appreciated!
