I received a LinkedIn job notification recently that a hiring manager thinks I'm qualified for a position and encouraged me to apply. I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience and whether it turned out to be promising. I'm currently working at a small company in sales, where I've been for about 7 years. I really enjoy my job and believe I'm good at it, but the pay has become insufficient. I'm earning $23 an hour with no commission, raises, or bonuses, which is frustrating given our team's performance. The job I'm considering offers a $60k base salary plus commission, which is a significant improvement. However, I feel conflicted about leaving my current role, as several of my coworkers also feel underappreciated. We've been exceeding our sales goals, but when we inquired about potential bonuses for the holiday season, management dismissed the idea with a joke. It's a tough situation, and I'm weighing my options carefully.

I'm planning a move from Minneapolis to Washington state, specifically Seattle or nearby areas, in 2027. My fiancé and I are getting married in late November, and we're weighing the pros and cons of making the move next year versus waiting 2 to 5 years. Currently, I'm 32 and stuck in a stagnant retail sales job at a small company with only 25 employees. I've been there for about 10 years on and off, earning $23 an hour with no commission, raises, or bonuses for years. The health plan is terrible, and I only get a capped total of 15 PTO/sick days. There's no room for professional growth since all the leads go to senior employees. My fiancé, who is 33, has been at his job for 3 years but is also capped on bonuses and faces challenges from a supervisor who seems to work against him. He has over 5 years of manufacturing experience and has been trying to break into Delta Air Lines but hasn't had any luck. We've heard positive things about Boeing in Washington, which has piqued our interest. For those who have made the leap to Washington, do you think moving next year is realistic, or should we hold off for a few more years? We have decent savings, but we’re hesitant to rely on them without job offers in hand. Any advice on the job market or transitioning to that area would be greatly appreciated!

I've been working for a small company in the Midwest for the past 7 years, and I’m feeling really stuck in my role as a salesperson. There are about 25 of us here, with half of the team in sales, and I've noticed some concerning trends regarding pay and management. Currently, I’m on a payment structure that gives me $23/hour plus commission after hitting my yearly goal, but I haven't seen any raises or bonuses since I started. The commission structures here vary widely, with some people making 100% commission and likely earning six figures, while others like me struggle to meet our goals with limited support. I've been trying to talk to management about switching to a more lucrative payment structure, but they keep saying I'm not making enough sales to qualify for the better options. I’ve been consistently improving my sales numbers and am on track to exceed my goal this year, which makes me question whether I should stay or look for something better. The company relies heavily on smaller accounts, and I've seen a high turnover rate among new hires because the learning curve is steep and the pay is stagnant. With inflation affecting everyone, several of my coworkers, including young mothers, are considering leaving for better opportunities. My husband thinks I should explore other options, and we’re even considering moving states if it means I can find a better job. So, I’m left wondering if it’s time to walk away from this position. Should I stick it out and see if I can make more in commission, or is it time to look for a new opportunity where I might be valued more?
