I currently work as an associate manager at a busy restaurant, and I'm at my breaking point. When I accepted the job, I specifically asked about the closing shifts because my previous job had me closing every night for two years, which ruined my social life and relationships. The GM assured me that shifts would rotate, allowing me to have a balanced schedule. However, I ended up closing for an entire month straight, often working until 1 AM on weekdays and 3-4 AM on weekends. It's been exhausting and has only added to my misery. To make matters worse, I've decided to go back to school, which is only two days a week. But now my schedule is even crazier—I'm closing at 1 AM and then getting up for school at 8:45 AM, only to work again until 2 AM. I'm just so tired and frustrated with everything. I feel like I'm dealing with a constant stream of difficult customers and not being trained properly for my role. I live with my parents and pay a small amount for rent, which is a relief, but I still feel trapped in this job. I've been applying to other positions, but I'm not getting any responses or interviews, not even from supermarkets. I just want to hear from others who might have been in a similar situation. I need to figure out a way to change my life because this job is making me resentful and angry.
