  1. 1

I was laid off two months ago from my position due to what the company described as a "lack of work". They mentioned that without enough projects, there was no need for my role. I had been with the company for several years and had always been committed to my work. Some projects required travel, while others were local. I had communicated my need for local assignments due to my therapy and psychiatrist appointments, which I scheduled after work hours. Recently, I learned from a former colleague that my layoff might have been influenced by my mental health days. I have bipolar disorder, and during manic episodes, I find it unsafe to drive long distances. Despite my transparency about my situation, it seems my request for local work was not well received. I can't help but wonder if this constitutes discrimination, especially since newer employees were retained while I was let go. I'm now considering my options moving forward and whether I have any grounds to address this situation.
