I’ve been working in customer service for a luxury retail company for the past five years. Throughout this time, I've consistently met or exceeded expectations during my evaluations, received positive feedback from clients, and taken the initiative to start new projects and create training manuals without being prompted. Despite my efforts and a great rapport with my colleagues, I haven't seen any career progression. I've expressed my desire to move up to multiple managers, but one even told me I’m 'too good' to work in another department, which led me to step back my productivity to just the essentials. I feel lost because I had clear career goals, but the roles I wanted have been filled without my knowledge. I'm considering whether I should focus on finding a new job instead. I have an associate's degree in business and plan to pursue my bachelor's degree soon. I’m interested in training and HR procedures, and I know that many roles require a bachelor's degree to be considered. I'm looking for advice on whether I should develop new skills or continue to seek opportunities within my current company.
