I was unexpectedly let go from my job at a small business just minutes before my shift was supposed to start. I had been working there since March 20th and everything seemed fine; I had just received a positive evaluation and had no issues with customers or coworkers. However, as I arrived for my shift, my boss stopped me outside and informed me that I would no longer be scheduled to work. She mentioned that she had already covered my shifts, including the one I was supposed to work that day. I was completely blindsided, especially since I was still on the schedule for the following week and had received no prior indication that there was a problem. It was frustrating to have wasted 40 minutes commuting only to be told I was let go without any warning. I reached out for clarification and was told it was simply 'not the right schedule and role for me.' I only worked 1-2 times a week, so while I'm not overly concerned about losing this job, it still feels very abrupt and confusing. Is this kind of treatment normal?
