I recently applied for a job through Indeed and encountered a frustrating experience. The scheduling interface was bizarre, offering only random interview slots a week or more after I submitted my application. I chose the earliest available date, which was this morning, thinking it would be a straightforward process. However, when I arrived for the interview, the hiring manager informed me that the position had already been filled. To make matters worse, she mentioned that another position I had applied for was also no longer available. Her comments about my qualifications felt dismissive, especially when she offered me a low-paying role that I hadn't even expressed interest in. I was shocked and disappointed, especially since I had rearranged my day around this interview. It’s astonishing that they didn’t bother to update me about the filled positions before I came in. I can't imagine how someone in dire need of work would feel in this situation. I'm currently employed and not in urgent need of a job, but the whole experience left me feeling disheartened by the job market. I also attended a group Q&A for another position where the interviewer made insensitive remarks about patience during the lengthy onboarding process. It seems like many recruiters are lacking empathy and professionalism, and it’s disheartening to witness such callousness in the hiring process.

I recently left a job where I was provided with equipment, and now I'm facing an unexpected issue with my final paycheck. My last pay was significantly lower than expected—about $300 missing, and I also haven't received my mileage reimbursement for over 600 miles driven at $0.73 per mile. I've tried reaching out to my former employer, but no one seems to have answers for me. This morning, the IT guy came to ask for the equipment back, and I told him to have someone from HR contact me to explain the wage cut. Since then, I've heard nothing back. I know I might be acting a bit petty, especially since my time there was quite miserable, but I feel frustrated by how big organizations can push people around. While I understand I need to return the equipment eventually, I really want to resolve the payment issue first. I'm looking for advice on how to get answers—should I contact HR directly, reach out to the person who hired me, or take another route? Losing $600 isn't something I can easily overlook, especially in today's economy.
