Today, I learned that Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to around 60,000 employees across four countries. This initiative is part of their push for efficiency driven by AI advancements. I found out that this is the second time they’ve introduced such a program, following a smaller voluntary retirement option for some U.S. workers six months ago. Employees have until December to decide whether to accept the buyout, with the departure date set for December 31. It feels like a significant shift in the company, and there’s speculation that those who don’t take the buyout may face layoffs in April.
